One File Endo |
Munich, 22.03.2011 | ||||||||
RECIPROC® is probably the most significant new development since nickel-titanium instruments were first introduced to rotary preparation of root canals. The difference to rotary NiTi systems with their elaborate instrument sequences is that RECIPROC® completely prepares and shapes the root canal with only one single instrument: One File Endo. The RECIPROC® system was developed by VDW/Munich to systematically simplify the procedure of preparing root canals while ensuring maximum security during the process. The root canal preparation results conform to the highest quality demands in this area. So much simplicity is made possible through the use of this new reciprocating movement coupled with the special design of the RECIPROC® instrument itself. In its back-and-forth movement with varying angles of rotation, the instrument cuts during the longer forwards movement and discharges during the shorter backwards movement. These rotational angles have been programmed into the VDW.SILVER® RECIPROC® motor and prevent RECIPROC® instruments from being used beyond their specific elastic limit. The risk of an instrument fracture can thus be minimised. The instrument has a specific design and, together with this novel reciproc-movement, even extremely curved or narrow canals can be easily prepared. RECIPROC® instruments are made of an innovative M-Wire® nickel-titanium alloy. This material offers higher resistance against cyclic fatigue and greater flexibility than the conventional nickel-titanium-alloys. One RECIPROC® instrument replaces a number of hand- and rotary instruments and is therefore defined for use in one molar maximum. Instruments are ready to use, in sterile blister packaging and must be disposed of after use. With this convenient single-use feature, practical procedures become more efficient, the risk of cross-contamination is eliminated and it is reassuring that the material will not be overstrained past its fatigue limit. The RECIPROC® system has three available instrument sizes, the one that best fits is selected in accordance to clearly defined criteria. With each of the three sizes of instrument, an optimal canal form for all obturation methods can be attained. Also included in this system are customised paper points and gutta-percha points to simplify the procedures of drying and filling. A new era has begun. And with that: innumerous changing of instruments and time consuming work steps are now history. www.reciproc.com

An Ultrasonic Device with Focus on Endodontics |
|||
An ultrasonic device in endodontics – why is it necessary? It is a fact that today’s endodontists can no longer think of endodontic treatments without ultrasound, not because they want high standard equipment, but because they know about the essential advantages the ultrasonic technique provides for their endodontic treatments. The increasing demand comes mostly from practices that are either interested or specialising in endodontics. For this reason VDW, the expert in endodontics, has developed an ultrasonic device especially for root canal treatment: the VDW.ULTRA®. The main function (of this device) surely is the activation of irrigation: vibrations create air bubbles in the irrigation solution, they implode immediately and remove tissue and bio film. They reach into dentin tubules and lateral canals and reduce significantly the infection risk. As mere mechanical preparation reaches only about 70% of these areas, intensive irrigation is crucial for eliminating bacteria. A new feature is the passive ultrasonic irrigation with special instruments avoiding unwanted filing in the irrigation phase. Additional functions such as fine-preparation of the access cavity, retreatment, as well as removal of metal posts and fractured instruments are available. The handy device provides high-comfort treatments. Thanks to the patented “auto-balance-system” ensuring reliable automatic regulation, the VDW.ULTRA® is able to deliver a constant and efficient performance for every application. The piezo-electric handpiece weighs only 50g and can be sterilized in the autoclave. Also classic periodontal and scaling applications can be carried out efficiently. VDW provides a high-quality tailor-made tip assortment for use in endodontics: irrigation files for thorough ultrasonic cleaning and the removal of bio film, diamond-coated tips for efficient fine-preparation of the access cavity, fine tips made of the novel (innovative) titanium-niobium alloy for delicate retreatments, as well as a robust tip to remove metal posts with high intensity. |

GuttaMaster® Obturationssystem |
|||
Root canal preparation procedures have advanced dramatically within the past few years since the introduction of rotary NITI systems. From an obturation point of view, the resulting higher conicity of the canal shape is particularly significant and this has lead to the increase in popularity of thermoplastic filling methods. For this reason, in addition to the proven BeeFill®2in1 system for warm vertical compaction, VDW has extended its range with GuttaMaster®, which is based on the established carrier technique and compatible with the Mtwo® NiTi-system. The obturators are coated with bio-compatible alpha guttapercha which has a low melting point. They allow for a good three-dimensional filling of canals, including lateral ones. Thanks to variable heating settings for the different obturator sizes, GuttaMaster® provides constant and optimum results. A small groove in the plastic carrier allows for easy removal – an advantage should re-treatment be necessary. For an easy and efficient start with the GuttaMaster® system, VDW has put together a starter kit with everything you need! Obturators and verifiers are available in sets of 6 or 20. Let us know what you require - we’ll help you select what will work best for you! |

QUO VADIS |
|
I, myself, am a dentist, having studied in Germany and in the USA. There has been a huge development in the field of Endodontics since I studied. Technological advancements which have been available for some time, such as rotary preparation with NiTi instruments or electronic length determination have made a worldwide break-through. Endodontics is in fact one of the most innovative segments in dentistry. The most important reason for this is the huge increase in demand that made expensive investments in the development of highly technical products viable for the Industry. This makes possible a product offering which the dentist can include in his standard procedures and which reduces his treatment time whilst also allowing reproducible results better than with previous methods. Close observations reveal both the ever-changing needs of the dental practice, which cover the whole spectrum of dentistry, as well as the tendency towards a strongly increasing readiness to specialise. Together with a team of highly qualified employees and consultant Endodontists, I'm working on developing new treatment concepts and suitable products which fulfil the expectations of both of these important target groups. The patient should equally benefit from this in the form of higher quality care with less stress during the treatment. Not only do satisfied patients gladly come back, they also recommend their dentist to others based on good personal experience. After qualifying as a dentist, I completed a degree in Business Management in England. The financial components of the treatment concepts are therefore just as significant for me as the dental aspects are. Quo vadis? The answer is obvious: Irrespective of whether the dentist offers the whole range of dentistry in your practice, whether he has made Endodontics his focus, or plan to do so, or whether is an Endodontist - from VDW he can expect systems which enable a professional root canal therapy with good prospects of success and which are both suitable for the dental practice and financially viable.
Yours sincerely, |

Mtwo – “Simultaneous Shaping”- |
|||
Mtwo NiTi Instruments are particularly flexible and efficient due to their S-shaped cross-section and two efficient cutting blades. The distance between the cutting blades increases from the tip toward the shaft providing large space for dentin removal. This innovative design reduces to a minimum the adverse screwing effect. Two active cutting edges are extremely efficient and cause only little friction. This makes Mtwo instruments very fracture resistant. Mtwo is a minimally invasive NiTi system with only one sequence based on traditional hand preparation, providing excellent results necessitating not more than four instruments. Irrespective of the canal shape only one standard sequence is necessary. Additional instruments are available for shaping root canals according to different filling techniques (e.g. vertical condensation).

Raypex® 5 – five good reasons! |
|||
VDW’s new apex locator Raypex 5 works with the latest digital technology. Its hinged front panel with a colour display features a unique and user-friendly representation of the root canal. File movement can be followed live along the entire length of the root canal. As soon as the file tip reaches the apical third, the display automatically switches into the Apex Zoom Mode showing a close-up of the apical constriction and the foramen apicale. This helps the dentist to visualize file movement in this section and makes length determination reliable. The measuring accuracy achieved by Raypex 5 has been increased compared to other apex locators by empirically calibrating the display on more than 300 root canals. This virtually excludes over-instrumentation. The in-vitro study confirms a measuring accuracy of more than 95 %. The Raypex 5 apex locator has a Demo Mode to assist the dentist in
informing the patients why electronic length determination is necessary
and how it works. A stable anti-slip casing and modern design make Raypex 5 both practical
and attractive. Download: Raypex® 5 – five good reasons! [PDF document, 284 Kbyte] » |

2SEAL Root Canal Filling Paste |
|
Root canal fillings must provide long-term hermetic sealing of the entire root canal system to prevent penetration of liquids and micro-organismes from the apical and/or coronal region into the canal.
As it needs 4 hours for hardening time intensive root canal filling techniques, like lateral condensation, can be used. X-ray control imaging and corrections can be made during hardening. Furthermore, 2Seal features high radiopacity. 2Seal is biocompatible and has a minimal shrinking and solubility rate. As a matter of fact, being in contact with body fluids the tightness of soluble filling materials can be affected over the years, thus making room for bacteria to settle in the canal. 2Seal is recommended for all root canal preparation techniques. |

E-Master |
| High-Tech Pocket Size Endo Motor |
|
Digital torque control provides safe use of the E-Master. Every FlexMaster® file has an individual torque control setting. When the file reaches its torque limit the auto-reverse function starts automatically, and when the file is stuck in the canal the motor alternates rotation to free the instrument. A direction indicator which lights up green or red is integrated in the motor. When the file rotates normally in a clockwise direction the indicator is green, when rotation is reversed and when the torque limit is reached (>75% of the pre-programmed torque value) the indicator is red. The operation of E-Master™ is just as clear and simple as the FlexMaster® system. Selection of sequences and files follows the logical arrangement displayed on the FlexMaster® System Box. In order to avoid errors and to facilitate everyday use in the practice, the selected file is indicated by an LED diode on the display. Fast access enlargement with the new FlexMaster® IntroFile or with Gates, as well as a function for Guttapercha revisions, is also pre-progammed. Any 1:1 contra-angle can be used, calibrated and tested for efficiency with the E-Master™. A port on the control unit allows easy updates. E-Master™ is a basic device designed to receive other future modules. |

FileCare® EDTA |
| More than just a lubricant |
|
FileCare® EDTA also works as a lubricant, reducing friction on the instrument and pre-softening the dentin. In calcified canals, FileCare® EDTA reacts with the calcium salts, facilitating the advancement of the instruments. The bubbling effect caused when FileCare® EDTA comes into contact with NaOCl flushes out pulp tissue and dentinal debris. Convenient syringes make the product very simple to use. Put some FileCare® EDTA on to a dappen dish, pick up some FileCare® EDTA with an endodontic instrument and introduce it into the canal. Because of its outstanding properties FileCare® EDTA has been selected as one of our innovative products to be awarded with the VDW quality seal "Endo Easy Efficient". |
